I am thrilled to announce a new member and several changes in roles among CVP faculty!

I’m excited to welcome a new Core Faculty member to the CVP, Dr. Hemal Kanzaria, who is an Associate Professor in Emergency Medicine at ZSFG. Hemal, among other things, plays a key role in the BHHI, as one of the co-leads on our robust program on complex needs individuals, and is co-lead of the use of local data team.

CVP center Faculty Margot Kushel, Maya Vijayaraghavan, Valy Fontil, Hilary Seligman, Alicia Fernandez, Urmimala Sarkar, and Courtney Lyles were all featured in the

CVP & BHHI Director Dr.@MKushel on homelessness @nytimes "Most homelessness is a result, pure & simple, of poverty...& the insidious impact of racism. If we don’t fix the fundamentals, we are just patching a leaking ship."

Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, PhD, MD, MAS has been selected as this year's recipient of the Harold S. Luft Award for Mentoring in Health Services and Health Policy Research, awarded by the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies.  
 
 

Distinguished Professors of Women and Medicine 

Each year during the SGIM annual meetings, the WAMC has sponsored the Distinguished Professor of Women and Medicine (formerly Distinguished Professor in Women’s Health).  The Distinguished Professorship includes a plenary address from a national leader in women’s health and a moderated women’s health abstract session.

Dr. Urmimala Sarkar is the 2019 recipient of the ZSFG Mentoring Award!

This award is given to a Medicine faculty member in recognition of his/her exemplary contributions in mentoring students, postgraduate trainees or faculty members. Mentoring achievements may pertain to clinical, educational or research activities or a combination of these areas.
