Richard Rothstein will discuss his book, The Color of Law, which explodes the myth that America’s cities came to be racially divided through de facto segregation—that is, through individual prejudices, income differences, or the actions of private institutions like banks and real estate agencies.
Chancellor's 2018 State of the University Address
On Oct. 30, Chancellor Sam Hawgood, MBBS, will deliver his fifth State of the University address, with the theme “Commitment to the Community.”
The address, from noon to 1 p.m., will be presented live in Cole Hall on the Parnassus campus and from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. It will be live streamed here and simulcast at Byers Hall in Genentech Hall at Mission Bay, Herbst Hall at Mount Zion as well as in Fresno.

Closing the Gap between Rigor and Relevance - CFAR Symposium
Implementation science is an emerging field focused on closing the gap between efficacious interventions and real world practice. While the HIV research community has enthusiastically embraced the motivation for implementation science, there is far less consensus on the critical approaches to successful conduct of implementation science in the context of the HIV epidemic. Many methodological issues, which have perhaps been less emphasized in traditional clinical research, are particularly salient for knowledge about implementation. External validity is as important as internal validity.
